Our tax lawyers have formidable taxation knowledge and an unrivalled reputation for vigorously negotiating with the highest-ranking officials from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Our lawyers are expected to have a commercial mindset and advise across a diverse range of income tax and indirect taxation matters, working closely with all the other ABL practice groups.
The Role
An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced lawyer (circa 4-5 years PQE) to join our preeminent, growing and dynamic Sydney tax practice, working predominantly with our Sydney partners Clint Harding and Jonathan Ortner. You will also work closely with our Melbourne-based partners Mark Leibler AC, Paul Sokolowski and Shaun Cartoon.
You will have an exceptional legal mind, as well as commercial and strategic nous. You will be challenged and provided with the opportunity to take carriage of matters with autonomy.
More specifically you will have:
a passion for practising taxation law;
proven experience working on a broad range of taxation matters with a focus on ATO audits, reviews and tax disputes;
the ability to identify key issues and key evidential matters in a legal matter;
an appreciation for tax issues associated with ultra-high-net-wealth individuals and private groups;
strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with partners, other lawyers, clients, the ATO, counsel and other internal Arnold Bloch Leibler departments;
the ability to work as a productive member of a team; and
the ability to interact with clients confidently and build effective working relationships.
