The Banking & Finance practice
Our Banking & Finance lawyers understand how to manage the legal and commercial risks inherent in all financial transactions and offer smart, effective solutions to both borrowers and lenders. We advise across the full spectrum of financing transactions, ranging from corporate and property finance to complex structured and project financing matters, solvent and insolvent restructurings and recapitalisations.
Our clients include a number of major domestic and international trading and investment banks and financiers. We also advise substantial private family groups, corporates, property developers, private equity, hedge and special situation funds, fund managers, institutional investors, project sponsors and underwriters in domestic and cross-border transactions.
We understand that for many of our clients, financing is just one aspect of the deal, and so our teams are resourced to provide legal services across all disciplines required and to seamlessly integrate advice with our property, construction, commercial, insolvency and tax teams.

The Role
An opportunity exists for a junior lawyer (1-3 year PQE) to join the Banking & Finance practice in our Sydney office. In this role, you will work closely with the Banking & Finance partners and directly with our clients on complex, challenging and high-profile matters. You want to feel challenged, and to be given opportunities to take on additional responsibility, have autonomy and perform to your own high standard.
More specifically you will have:
1-2 years of post-qualification experience gained in private practice either in Australia or an overseas jurisdiction;
private practice experience in finance (desirable)
the ability to identify key issues in a legal matter;
superior analytical, research, communication and drafting skills;
a commitment to excellence;
sound judgement and a proactive, innovative and outcome-focused approach to work; and
the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
